Sustainability at the GLS Campus Hotel
We place great importance on the sustainable use of resources and, as a hotel and event venue, want to contribute to this effort.
Our understanding of sustainability extends far beyond mere environmental protection: We consider ecological balance, social justice, and economic foresight as a unified whole. At the GLS Campus Hotel, this means that smart energy solutions, fair and respectful teamwork, and strengthening the regional economy come together naturally. For events and stays with genuine added value.
We welcome the support of our guests: Ideas and suggestions can be shared with the reception team at any time.

Resource-efficient
energy &
water consumption
We source 100% of our hotel’s electricity from renewable energy sources (e.g., lighting, technical equipment, and infrastructure). To reduce energy consumption, we use LED lighting, timers, and motion detectors, among other things. We also operate our own combined heat and power plant and utilize waste heat for energy generation.
To reduce our drinking water consumption and conserve resources, we use our own well and collected rainwater to irrigate our green spaces. This allows us to save valuable drinking water and ensure the sustainable maintenance of our outdoor areas.
Regional shopping
& biodiversity
We prioritize sustainable and regional sourcing, especially in the food and beverage sector, and collaborate with local partners and producers.
On our campus, we promote biodiversity through green spaces, herb gardens, fruit trees, and habitats for insects and small animals, such as wildflower meadows, bee hotels, and birdhouses. Our own composting systems support a closed-loop resource cycle.
Plastic
waste, paperless office & digitalization
We separate waste and reduce our garbage volume by, among other things, avoiding single-use packaging and using refillable dispenser systems. Together with the TooGoodToGo app, we work daily to rescue food and reduce food waste by donating surplus food. Shower gel and lotion are available from refillable dispensers in the hotel rooms, spa, and public areas.
Through digital processes (e.g., digital guest directories, sending invoices by email), we reduce paper consumption in our day-to-day operations. Where we do need paper, we use only recycled paper.
Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR)
